Long, long ago, on an indie film site far… Well, actually!
Long before Sony was hacked, a growing indie film site, www.MaxItMagazine.com was hacked! With both Brutal Denial of Service and Brute Force attacks, until finally they gained access to the server. Not to steal information from the site, but rather to use the server for their own malicious means.
Over time the coders worked to recover from the damage, but to no avail. The hackers were in too deep! Anonymous even tried to help keep it online. Holding the site together with bailing wire, duct tape, bubble gum and sheer willpower, the site was able to stay together for another year. That is until finally, due to the expanding code corruption, the site finally imploded, taking the servers with it.
Some interesting facts about that indie film site include:
Making those contributions to the indie film world and being the only website completely dedicated to indie filmmakers, not simply studio films claiming to be indie, make www.MaxItMagazine.com a crucial tool for their success. This is why we've done a complete rebuild from top to bottom and have now relaunched it!
There's still a lot of work to be done, with a massive amount of new features we haven't turned on yet. You can help with that work by getting us your press releases, testing the site and letting us know if you find a bug, along with sharing it as you did with the first site. It was this collaborative indie attitude that made it a success the first time. It'll be that same effort that makes it even bigger than what it was originally!
I say thank you now for what you've already done and what you will hopefully do. Together we can give indie film its voice back.
