CHESTER, England — Twelve-year-old British actress Summer-Joules Saunders is taking on the lead role of Elara in 'The N.E.S.T. Project', an ambitious independent post-apocalyptic feature film currently filming in the UK and the opening chapter of The Eight Saga.

Set in a world where civilisation has been transformed by devastating collapse, the film introduces audiences to a future in which survival comes at a price, trust is uncertain and the truth may be more dangerous than anyone realises.

In this new world, a powerful organisation known as N.E.S.T. promises safety, sanctuary and the chance to rebuild a better future. But beneath the promise of protection lies a deeper mystery, raising questions about who can be trusted and what freedom really means.

At the heart of the story is Elara, a courageous and inquisitive young girl whose growing doubts set her on a journey to question the world around her and everything she has been led to believe.

As the mystery unfolds, Elara's journey explores survival, freedom, courage, friendship, resilience and hope, placing a young protagonist at the centre of a story about discovering the truth in a world built on uncertainty.

With filming underway in the UK, 'The N.E.S.T. Project' marks the beginning of a wider cinematic story, introducing the characters, world and mysteries that will form The Eight Saga.

Summer-Joules Saunders: Bringing Elara to Life

Taking on the central role of Elara, Summer-Joules has spent recent months immersed in the character, filming on location and tackling scenes that demand both emotional range and physical commitment.

Elara's journey calls for a performance that balances vulnerability with determination as she navigates an unfamiliar and unpredictable world where danger, uncertainty and the search for truth are never far away.

For Summer-Joules, the role has offered the opportunity to help bring an entirely new cinematic world to life while developing a character whose courage grows as her understanding of the world around her begins to change.

Summer-Joules said:

"I love playing Elara because she's brave, but she doesn't always know how brave she is. I love discovering more about her every time we film and being part of creating this whole new world.

"I've learned so much from everyone I've worked with on set, and I'm really excited to see the finished result of everyone's hard work."

Already an experienced young performer, Summer-Joules has worked across screen, stage and voiceover, continuing to develop her craft alongside her professional work.

Why the Filmmakers Chose Summer-Joules

The decision to cast the central character was an important one for the production, with the filmmakers highlighting Summer-Joules' expressive performance, emotional understanding and commitment to the role.

Szilárd Pusztai, Director of 'The N.E.S.T. Project', said:

"Summer-Joules joined us to portray Elara, a central character whose journey begins in 'The N.E.S.T. Project'. From the moment I first saw her on set, I was struck by the strength and expressiveness in her eyes, and I knew she could bring something truly special to the role.

"Elara requires courage, vulnerability and emotional depth, and Summer-Joules has embraced every challenge with remarkable commitment and maturity. It has been a privilege to watch her grow into the character, and I am incredibly excited for audiences to experience the journey she is helping us bring to life."

Charles J. Wilkinson, Director of Photography, said:

"Casting a protagonist in any film is always going to be a difficult decision, especially when your lead character is a child. However, once we saw Summer-Joules' audition tape, the decision became much easier.

"Summer-Joules possesses an understanding of the subtleties of acting, utilising small choices to convey a great deal of emotion. With 'The N.E.S.T. Project' being a character-driven film, this skill is essential to the role of Elara."

Attila Nemeth, Executive Producer, said:

"When we first saw Summer-Joules on set, and especially when I saw the intensity in her eyes, I knew straight away that we would want her to be part of the project for the long term.

"As we happened to be recasting the role of Elara at the time, we felt that Summer-Joules would be an excellent choice for the character."

The Beginning of the Eight Saga

'The N.E.S.T. Project' is the opening feature in The Eight Saga, establishing the world, characters and story that will begin a wider creative journey.

Bringing together actors, filmmakers, producers and creatives, the independent production aims to create a distinctive post-apocalyptic world in which Elara's journey forms a central part of a much larger story.

With its focus on survival, identity, freedom and the search for truth, the film introduces a world where the promise of security may come with difficult questions and where one young girl's curiosity could change everything she understands.

For Summer-Joules, taking on the protagonist role marks a significant new chapter in her development as a young screen actress, placing her at the centre of a feature film that launches an expanding fictional universe.

Filming is continuing in the UK, with further information about 'The N.E.S.T. Project' and The Eight Saga expected to be announced as production progresses.
