Plankenstein is a comedy horror Executive Produced by Cinesthesia Factory and directed by Diq Diamond (Potluck With Smooch, Tales of the Circle Keys) and stars Amy Jennings (A Place Among The Dead) as Police Captain Miller, Alex Dayuha (Red One) as charming local surfer Kalani, and introduces Leilani Ramos as Lili, the unsuspecting heir to the Hawaiian throne.

Set against the breathtaking backdrop of Kailua, Oahu, Plankenstein combines the sun-soaked world of surfing with the blood-curdling thrills of classic horror. The film follows the carnage unleashed by a cursed surfboard, dubbed Plankenstein, as it protects a secret Hawaiian royal heir through a series of gruesome, often darkly comic murders.

Director Diq Diamond’s inspiration came from an unlikely source: a battered surfboard he rescued from Oahu’s North Shore. “I repaired it with metal hinges and twine, creating a Frankensteinian board that sparked the idea for Plankenstein,” Diamond explains.

The November 8th premiere will be particularly special, as cast and crew will be in attendance for a Q&A session following the film, giving audiences a unique opportunity to hear directly from the people who brought this story to life.

Plankenstein not only introduces a novel concept to the horror genre, it also pays homage to Hawaiian culture and mythology. The film interweaves ancient curses, local legends, and the modern surf scene, creating a unique tapestry of terror and tradition. It also breaks new ground with its innovative kill scenes. “We had to get creative,” says special effects supervisor Robert MacLean, “How the hell does a surfboard kill? You’d be surprised at the answers we came up with.”
