Etched – A Story About Faith And Forgiveness
First-time filmmaker Georgina Elizabeth Okon’s Etched—a black-and-white short shot on an iPhone XR—explores marriage, faith, and forgiveness. The film has won two awards and is a finalist at the Last Evangelist Film & Music Festival.

LOS ANGELES, CA — May 2025 — Etched, a short film co-written by Shannon Mitchell and Georgina Elizabeth Okon, directed by Okon, and starring Okon alongside Gregory A. Thompson, continues to make an impact on the festival circuit with its powerful portrayal of love, faith, and forgiveness. Shot entirely on an iPhone XR with no crew and no budget, Etched was born from a friend’s challenge for Okon to enter the Reimagine iPhone Film Festival—where it went on to win the Showcase Prize. The film later received the Mini-Film Award at the Christian Online Film Festival and is currently a Finalist at the Last Evangelist Film & Music Festival in Brookville, Ohio. Exploring the deeply flawed nature of love within a marriage, Etched reveals what happens when a relationship faces the brink of divorce—but grace brings reconciliation. The story unfolds entirely within a single living room, its minimalist cinematography and emotional intimacy emerging naturally due to the film’s many constraints. “Etched is, at its core, a story of grace,” said Okon. “It represents the moment a divine ambush forced me out of my prison of fear.” A British-born Nigerian actor, voiceover artist, storyteller, and first-time filmmaker based in Los Angeles, Okon has appeared in CBS’s Bob Hearts Abishola, Hulu’s Shrill, and Nickelodeon’s The Really Loud House. She also starred in Fugitive Zero, directed by Joe Lam — a performance that earned her 10 Best Supporting Actress nominations and 7 Best Supporting Actress awards across national and international film festivals. Etched marks Okon’s directorial debut and reflects her passion for faith-driven storytelling. The film continues to resonate with audiences drawn to stories of redemption and resilience. Etched will be screened at the Last Evangelist Film & Music Festival on November 14–15 in Brookville, Ohio, followed by the 2025 Christian Online Film Festival on December 20.
