BURBANK, Calif. – Aug. 18, 2025 – Active Voice Productions, the pioneering independent film and media company founded by internationally acclaimed award-winning filmmaker Dylan Brody, announces the continued festival success of their latest feature film project, further cementing the company's reputation as a creative powerhouse in the independent film landscape.
Under the visionary leadership of CEO and founder Dylan Brody, the company has established itself as a formidable force in independent cinema, consistently delivering what it describes as "museum-quality, thoughtful, impactful projects for niche and mainstream audiences." The company's latest feature-length streaming release, "You Are Here: A Dylan Brody Project" (2024, Distributed by Circuit Cinema), represents the culmination of Brody's multi-disciplinary artistic vision, featuring an ensemble cast led by veteran comedian Paul Provenza and Michele Martin.
A Legacy of Recognition
Dylan Brody brings an extraordinary pedigree to Active Voice Productions, having earned the prestigious Stanley Drama Award for his play "Mother May I" and maintaining a distinguished career spanning more than 20 years in entertainment and literature. The award-winning playwright, humorist and published author has emerged as one of America's most extraordinary live storytellers, after sharing stages as a comic with comedy legends including Adam Sandler, Larry Miller, Norm MacDonald, Louie Anderson, Richard Belzer, Larry David and Jerry Seinfeld.
Brody's work has garnered praise from comedic legends ranging from David Sedaris, Robin Williams, Jenny Lawson and Richard Lewis to Carl Reiner. Most notably, best-selling author and humorist David Sedaris invited Brody to share his stages when touring the West Coast for three years running – a rare honor that speaks to Brody's exceptional talent and industry recognition.
Independent Film Excellence
"You Are Here: A Dylan Brody Project" showcases the innovative storytelling approach that has become synonymous with the company. The film turns romantic comedy on its head as an anonymous middle-aged music editor falls for a young conceptual artist, then spends much of the film having no idea that she's entirely wrong for him. This micro-budget independent feature demonstrates the company's commitment to challenging conventional filmmaking approaches while delivering compelling narrative experiences, in this case a genuinely laugh-out-loud comedy that runs like a series of New Yorker shorts about the friction between art and commerce in Hollywood, the home of an increasingly artless Entertainment Industry.
This project follows the remarkable success of the company's first feature-length streamer, "LockDown 2020," which gathered a veritable bouquet of laurels and screenings worldwide. The microbudget feature film was co-produced with Bonnie Hunt, highlighting the company's ability to attract established industry talent to innovative independent projects.
A Unique Creative Vision
Active Voice Productions has been winning awards at documentary and short film festivals worldwide with their diverse portfolio of projects. The company's creative output spans multiple media, from "The Corona Dialogues: a Dylan Brody project" the web series to the first feature-length project, to public interest documentaries and an experimental ‘video chapbook’ called Poetry Against the End of the World that uses early AI imagery over deeply human poetry to bring poetry and the idea of accessible poetry to a modern audience. Brody's versatility as a creative director has put him at the helm of his own productions, the second unit fight teams of other people’s productions, radio plays and sketches, theatrical presentations, comedic solo shows, and ensemble improv-based programming. His next endeavor, a low-budget limited-location thriller is currently seeking investors for a project he says, “…is another Trojan Horse. Where YOU ARE HERE hid ideas about the importance of Art for Arts Sake and the poison of entertainment-as-industry in a goofy romantic comedy, this one uses the thriller format to expose the Troubled Teen Industry. It’s darker and WAY more commercial. And maybe a little bit important.,”
The company has produced the award-winning, 32-episode "Corona Dialogues," experimental feature films, musical comedies and collaborative albums, demonstrating its commitment to diverse artistic expression across entertainment platforms.
Industry Recognition and Credentials
Dylan Brody's extensive entertainment industry experience includes writing for dozens of comedians, including Jay Leno, who has used Brody's work in his monologues on NBC's "The Tonight Show." His literary achievements include multiple published novels, and in 2000, he was nominated for a Golden Trailer Award for his work on "Big Momma's House."
His work has been published in periodicals ranging from TSR's Adventure Fantasy magazine, Dragon, to Harvard Press' scientific humor magazine, Annals of Improbable Research, demonstrating the breadth and intellectual depth of his creative output.
