PHILADELPHIA/PARIS – Dec. 28, 2025 – Award-winning auteur filmmaker Gigi Hozimah, celebrated for her uncompromising cinematic vision and poetic visual language, will unveil her latest feature, ‘And Then Comes Winter,’ at an exclusive, invitation-only screening at La Filmothèque du Quartier Latin in Paris. With an artistry shaped by over two decades across Saudi Arabia, the United Kingdom and the United States, Hozimah crafts cinema that resists formula and confronts audiences with emotional precision. Her work has garnered international recognition, including the Golden Palm Award for Best Editing for ‘It’s Always That Feeling.’ A Quiet Before the Storm ‘And Then Comes Winter’ unfolds in the hushed, charged hours before the outbreak of an unnamed war. Over the course of a single day and night in the countryside, two couples — one older and withdrawn, the other younger and uncertain — cross paths in fleeting encounters where silence speaks louder than words. In Hozimah’s hands, every glance and pause becomes a moment heavy with longing, fragility and the unshakable sense that change is coming. “This is not a story of war, but of the quiet just before it,” Hozimah said. “It’s about stillness, unspoken tension and how people connect — or fail to — when they sense something irreversible is near.” An International Cast, A Singular Vision The film stars Maritza Vives, the Argentine-American actress known for her emotional truth, and Jean-Calixte Gros, a French actor bringing quiet magnetism to the role of Andrea. Shot with natural light, immersive sound design and restrained dialogue, ‘And Then Comes Winter’ reflects Hozimah’s distinct authorial voice — merging visual poetry with existential inquiry. Produced With Independence and Intent Produced under Hozimah’s Philadelphia-based company Look At The Wall Productions, the film is her fourth feature, following ‘He Belongs to Us,’ ‘That Abandoned Place’ and ‘It’s Always That Feeling.’ Eschewing conventional production formulas, Hozimah continues to build her own spaces for creation and exhibition, prioritizing artistic integrity over institutional approval. The Paris screening will gather members of the international film community, critics and cultural figures, serving as the first step in the film’s 2026 global rollout.
