KENNESAW, Ga. - Aug. 17, 2025 — 'Wonderworld: The Remixed Musical,' created by Brett Schieber and Tree (Arcanum), is a genre-defying gothic fairytale which could be called a cross between K-pop Demon Hunters with Tim Burton-inspired visuals.
With its emotionally charged narrative, darkly whimsical aesthetic and a soundtrack that evokes The Cure and Depeche Mode, the musical is now being pitched for adaptation into a stop-motion or animated feature film for theatrical release or streaming platforms.
“There’s nothing wrong with the way you are…”
The CaliPost says:
"'Wonderworld: The Remixed Musical' stands out not only for its aesthetic appeal but also for its emotional impact on audiences. It encourages everyone to embrace their creativity as a means of overcoming adversity, offering an uplifting reminder that there is strength in art. It’s truly beautiful.”
'Wonderworld' tells the story of Max, a confused and lonely boy is picked on at school and can only find solace in his art. But will his art torture or save him?
This emotional story, along with its dark electronic soundtrack invokes the brooding atmospheres of The Cure and Depeche Mode. The music, dark, atmospheric beat driven music with catchy singalong hooks, emotionally draws in the audience.
The musical’s visual and emotional depth makes it an ideal candidate for animation. Studios like Laika, known for 'Coraline' and 'ParaNorman,' could bring its eerie charm to life through stop-motion. Netflix Animation and A24 are also well-positioned to adapt 'Wonderworld' into a stylized 2D or 3D animated feature, tapping into the global appetite for dark fantasy and emotionally resonant storytelling.
Animation is the natural next step. The world we’ve built is surreal, layered and visually stunning. It begs to be brought to life in a medium where imagination has no limits.
The creators are actively seeking literary agents, production companies and streaming partners to expand 'Wonderworld' into a full-scale animated feature. With its built-in fanbase, genre fusion appeal and emotionally charged narrative, the musical is positioned to become a breakout hit in the animated film space.
