SYDNEY — Australian audiences were the first in the world to see the new comedy 'Wingman', with the film launching in Australian cinemas ahead of its international rollout across the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom.

The release was led by a special screening event at Sydney’s Ritz Cinemas, which hosted the film’s first public screening worldwide. The launch brought together industry guests, filmmakers and audiences as Australia became the first territory to officially release the feature.

The premiere screening was led by Los Angeles-based Australian James Pratt, who worked in a producing capacity on the film and flew back to Sydney to represent the production. “It’s such a funny film; this type of comedy is rare these days, so getting to launch first back home in Australia was extra special,” said Pratt.

Directed by comedian and actor Harland Williams ('Dumb and Dumber'), 'Wingman' stars Williams alongside Jamie Kennedy ('Scream'), Kayla Wallace ('Landman'), Russell Peters ('Chef'), Evan Marsh ('Chef'), Shiva Negar ('American Assassin') and David Lipper ('Full House') in a comedy centered on a struggling bachelor whose life spirals into chaos after he hires an eccentric, self-proclaimed dating expert to win back his ex.

Justin L. Levine ('Life Happens') and Stardust Pictures produced the film along with David Lipper, Robert J. Daly and Pratt. Williams wrote the screenplay from a story by Levine, with Carly Granovsky as casting director. Following the Australian theatrical launch, 'Wingman' moves into its UK and U.S. rollout via Apple TV+.
