Independent filmmaker Sina Sahelgozin, professionally known as SinaSGZ, has completed postproduction on 'Sunrise,' a psychological short drama examining the emotional toll of war through symbolic, visually driven storytelling.
Produced, directed, written, edited and photographed by Sahelgozin, the film follows a solitary man struggling to preserve hope while carrying the psychological burden of conflict. Rather than relying on conventional dialogue or action, the story unfolds through visual atmosphere, television broadcasts, sound design and recurring symbols.
Filmed during winter 2026 inside the filmmaker’s living space, 'Sunrise' was designed as an intimate character study reflecting the isolation civilians can experience during wartime. The confined setting serves as both the character’s physical environment and a metaphor for psychological imprisonment.
The production emphasizes cinematic realism, natural performance, dramatic lighting and environmental sound. Persian television news broadcasts and selected music reinforce the tension while supporting the film’s minimalist structure.
According to the production, principal photography, editing, color grading, sound design, subtitles, promotional artwork and final mastering are complete. The film is preparing for submission to international festivals.
“'Sunrise' is a reflection on how war persists long after the fighting stops,” Sahelgozin said. “I wanted to capture the quiet, internal battle that civilians carry, using the intimacy of a single room to mirror the confines of the mind.”
Sahelgozin’s work focuses on character-driven stories about resilience, mental health, identity and the emotional consequences of extraordinary circumstances. His approach favors visual expression over exposition, inviting audiences to interpret meaning through imagery and atmosphere.
