NASHVILLE, Tenn. — ‘She’s All the Rage,’ a 15-minute romantic comedy short from indie filmmaker Mehki Liggon, premiered on YouTube on Aug. 2. The film follows Sierra, a young Black influencer navigating the pressures of love, family expectations, and social media scrutiny as she reflects on three relationships — and the very public fallout that ensues.
Inspired by Spike Lee’s ‘She’s Gotta Have It,’ the short reimagines the tone and structure of the original while centering a modern Black woman at the heart of her own messy, hilarious, and complicated love story.
“With ‘She’s All the Rage,’ I wanted to honor the tone and structure of Spike Lee’s original while placing a Black woman influencer firmly at the center of her own story,” Liggon said. “It’s about how identity, self-worth, and public perception collide in the digital age.” The film blends sharp wit with honest insight into contemporary dating and is available to stream free on YouTube.
Mehki Liggon is an Atlanta-born filmmaker based in Nashville. ‘She’s All the Rage’ is his eighth short film, and he is currently developing his first feature.
