LONDON — 'You Were Perfect', a 12-minute fantasy-drama short film, will begin production in London in spring 2026. Written and directed by Jody Whittle-Wyeth, the film is an emotionally driven exploration of love, loss and second chances. Told through an LGBTQ+ lens, the story follows two lovers separated between the world of the living and the dead, delving into grief, memory and human connection.

In the story, an afterlife caseworker preparing to retire takes on a final assignment — an enigmatic soul with ties to a forgotten past — that threatens to unravel everything he thought he knew about memory, death and himself.

“This project was born from a place of deep grief and reflection,” says Whittle-Wyeth. “It's a comforting exploration of how love can soften the edges of loss, and how memory can guide us toward hope.”

The accomplished creative team includes cinematographer Matt Glen, production designer Anna Herold Pola ('Gladiator II', 'Napoleon', 'Thor: Love and Thunder'), producers Tim Juby and Suzanne Holland, musical director John Wallace and sound designer Danny Rowe, with a cast led by Keith Ramsay ('Shetland') and Bart Lambert ('Napoleon'). The Kickstarter campaign, aiming to raise £22,000, supports production and festival submissions.
