NEW YORK — French focus puller Hippolyte Charlut is quickly establishing himself within New York’s fast-paced film and media environment. After three years of technical and artistic training at ESRA Paris, he continued his education at ESRA New York, where he began working on sets and assisting rental houses such as Vela Rental. These early experiences helped him understand U.S. production standards and build a strong industry network.

Following the receipt of his Social Security Number, Charlut began booking paid positions as a 2nd Assistant Camera, gaining hands-on experience across narrative projects, commercials and music videos. His technical reliability, precision and fluency with modern camera systems led to a natural transition into his current role as a full-time focus puller.

Now working steadily in the position, Charlut is contributing to an expanding list of productions and collaborating with cinematographers across a range of formats. His growing presence in the New York film community reflects a clear upward trajectory — one that positions him among the new generation of technically driven camera technicians helping shape the future of the industry.
