NEW YORK — The producers of the Telly Award-winning short film ‘Five Flights,’ written by Kathleen Kaan and directed by Daryl Denner, have announced that the film has been selected for the New York Women in Film & Television (NYWIFT) 8th Annual Online Shorts Festival, presented in partnership with iWomanTV. The film stars Concetta Rose Rella and Johnny Tammaro and features Lilah Merrell, with cinematography and editing by Rodney Reyes, sound recording by Andrew Froening, and sound design by Michael Engesser. Kathleen Kaan executive produced and Vanessa Cordova-Corwin produced.

The film is seen through the eyes of a 10-year-old girl whose haunting words sum up her fears and hopes: “I live on the fifth floor on Fifth Street. I climb it every day. Five flights to nowhere. I’ll grow up and run away.” The result is a tragic tale of domestic abuse that doubles as a warning about the dangers of guns in the home. It was shot in New York City’s Alphabet City, where Kaan grew up.

The selected films are available to stream on iWomanTV, and the film with the most views will receive the festival’s Audience Choice Award. A free iWomanTV account is required to watch.
