BREDA, Netherlands — Two AI/hybrid microshorts by cult horror director Olly Blackburn ('Donkey Punch', 'Kristy') are joining the lineup at the first Dutch AI Video Awards, held during Dutch AI Week in Breda on Nov. 19.

'Melynie Duckfliss Presents' and 'Everything Is Possible' plunge into the possibilities and threats of AI filmmaking, using the aesthetics of AI production to interrogate the form — mimicking AI-powered social media and meme formats while delivering the director's trademark twists.

'Melynie Duckfliss' taps into the genre of cooking-influencer videos — among the most popular forms of influencer content, increasingly powered by AI — twisting the format on its head, while Melynie remains true to her goals of high-protein, environmentally safe, quick recipes.

'Everything Is Possible', made for the Sora 2 moment, is a series of clips using the director's likeness as a meta-heroic center while mimicking AI-staple genres from space operas to zombie apocalypses to race-car epics, culminating in a pointed question about where the new synthetic realities may be taking us.
