LOS ANGELES — Independent filmmaker Mark Elias and DFM Creative have launched a campaign for ‘We Could Be Heroes,’ a crime comedy that fuses the energy of gamer culture with the style and wit of ‘Booksmart’ and ‘Snatch.’

At its heart, the story follows a sharp, diverse young gamer girl who becomes the unlikely mastermind of a hilariously botched heist. Fast-paced, funny, and grounded in character, the film promises both commercial appeal and cultural relevance — especially for audiences hungry for fresh, female-driven stories in the gamer space.

“This isn’t just another indie comedy,” says Elias, who is producing his third feature. “We’re building a film with strong IP potential, cross-platform storytelling opportunities, and a production model designed for both creative and financial success. And thanks to U.S. tax code 181, our investors may also benefit from a full tax write-off.” The campaign invites everyday supporters, gamers, and film lovers to join industry professionals in backing the project from script to screen.

Mark Elias is an actor, writer, and producer recognized for the balance of heartfelt storytelling, grounded characters, and commercial sensibility in his independent work.
