LOS ANGELES – November 2025 – Buffalo 8 has acquired worldwide rights to Not For Nothing, a gripping crime drama set in the heart of South Philadelphia, written and directed by Tim Dowlin and the late Frank Tartaglia, a beloved figure in the South Philly creative community. The film will be available for pre-order on Fandango at Home beginning Nov. 21, 2025, and will release On Demand Dec. 5 in the U.S. and U.K. on Amazon, Fandango at Home, Verizon Fios, and major cable networks. Additional territories and platforms will follow on Dec. 19.
Starring Mark Webber (’Scott Pilgrim Takes Off,’ ’Green Room’), Mike Bash (’Shameless’), Lauren LaVera (’Terrifier 2,’ ’Terrifier 3,’ ’Terrifier 4’), Michael Gambino (’Shameless’), Michael McFadden (’Creed II’), Peter Patrikios (’Task,’ ’Silver Linings Playbook’), Danny Donnelly (’Last Known Location’), Nick Lanciano, Carmine Yusko, Al Sapienza (’The Sopranos’), Vic DiBitetto (’Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2’), and Rocco Rosanio, the film explores themes of loyalty, loss, and redemption with street-level authenticity.
Not For Nothing follows a group of neighborhood friends determined to uncover the truth behind a young woman’s mysterious fentanyl overdose. What begins as a quest for justice escalates into a volatile confrontation with the buried criminal past of South Philadelphia.
The film premiered at the Philadelphia Film Festival, winning multiple awards including the Local Audience Award, and later earned Best Feature and Best of Fest at the FirstGlance Film Festival Philadelphia. Critics have praised the film as “one gripping tale told with authenticity,” wrote A.D. Amorosi.
Produced by Peter D. Pelullo, Mark Webber, William Ostroff, Mike Brillstein, Michael Regalbuto, Tim Dowlin, Frank Tartaglia, and Brandon Brooks, the film also serves as a tribute to Tartaglia’s artistic legacy and to the city that shaped his work. Buffalo 8 co-founders Matthew Helderman and Luke Taylor serve as executive producers.
Shot entirely on location in Philadelphia, the film blends the grit of classic mob dramas with the emotional realism of contemporary storytelling.
