LONDON — Multi-award-winning film production company Raya Films is putting the finishing touches on the soul-searching documentary 'Indie Score'.
'Indie Score' follows singer-songwriter James Smith over the course of 15 years — from recording an album on an aging boat in Spain with nothing but an acoustic guitar, to scoring an entire feature film. The documentary weaves together early diary footage, TV and radio appearances, fresh interviews and striking visuals, underscored by a driving blues, jazz and rock soundtrack.
Smith, a UK-based independent musician who later became an award-winning feature film director, has written and directed eight narrative features to date, but his passion for music has never waned. The documentary takes his story full circle, following an artist still driven to create in the most unconventional circumstances.
To complete the film, Raya Films will soon launch a Kickstarter campaign to raise final production funds, with a goal of £3,000 to cover sound design and grading. A pre-launch page is live for supporters to sign up for launch-day notifications and time-limited rewards. Filmed on location in London, Nottingham, Essex, Paris and Andalucía, the 60-minute feature is produced by a National Film Award–nominated director/screenwriter team.
